Biographical history
Robina M Purdon (known as Ruby) was born in 1897 in Alva, Clackmannanshire, Scotland. She was educated at Alva Academy before attending the Glasgow and West of Scotland College of Domestic Science (Incorporated) in Glasgow, Scotland, from at least 1917 until 1918. While at the College she studied laundry and cookery, housework, house management and needlework. After leaving college she was employed as a domestic science teacher in Plymouth, Devon, England. She left work when she married in 1924, and her name changed to Ruby Stephens. She died in 1935.
Archival history
The papers were retained by Ruby Purdon and then family members prior to their move to Glasgow Caledonian University.
