About

The main purpose of the University Archive is to select, preserve and make available the archives of the University to the highest standards.

The four main objectives are –

. To acquire by transfer, deposit or gift archives as defined in the acquisitions policy (available from the University Archivist).
. To comply with recognised national standards for the preservation of archives.
. To describe and publicise the University archives to professional standards.
. To make available archival material in accordance with professional practice.

The Institutional Archive contains the official records of Glasgow Caledonian University and its predecessor bodies. These records give evidence about the functions, policies and decisions of the University and include minutes, reports, subject files, correspondence, publications, photographs and other types of records, in various formats. This Archive ensures the historical continuity of the University.

Our deposited archives enhance the research, and learning and teaching needs of the University and/or ensure the preserved heritage of areas close to our vision and ethos.
