Biographical history
Mollie Gofton was born on 25 February 1916 in Darlington, England. She was educated in Scotland at Dundee High School and Lenzie Academy. After leaving school she attended the Glasgow and West of Scotland College of Domestic Science (Incorporated) between 1933 to 1937 where she studied housewifery, dressmaking, needlework, embroidery and cookery. She worked in West Kirby Grammar School, Wirral, England, retiring as matron after 28 years of service. She died in 2000.

The papers were held in the home of Mollie Gofton and family member prior to their move to Glasgow Caledonian University.
